Hockey WA Award of Merit for Lee Abbott

m-r-k

It is with great pleasure that we can announce Lee Abbott as recipient of the Hockey WA Award of Merit.   The prestigious accolade is a special award which may be bestowed upon a volunteer whose services to an affiliated club or association is agreed to have been outstanding.

As members past and present know, there is none more outstanding in their contribution to our great club.  Lee works tirelessly in her current role of Junior Vice President and sets the very highest standards as a leader within Fremantle Hockey Club.   Past President, Life Member and Hudson Trophy winner, Lee’s dedication to the Magpies and to Hockey is truly inspirational and the finest example of a committed sporting volunteer.

Lee continues our club legacy of representation  and recognition at Hockey WA, joining the likes of club stalwarts Jim Banks and Gail Mounsey in receiving this privilege.  She will be presented with her award pitch side at Perth Hockey Stadium on the opening round of the 2017 season.

We’re Back!

Fremantle Hockey Club’s Women’s 1’s team have confirmed their promotion back to the Melville Toyota League for the 2017 season.  After claiming the minor premiership, the Magpies have finished top of the group in the promotion/relegation games.

A shock 6-1 defeat to YMCC in the opening play off match did not get us off to the best start, but back to back 2-1 victories over Suburban Lions and Hale has seen us earn a place back in the Premier 1 grade of WA Hockey after a 2 season absence.

After 3 games in a week the girls now have a break of 8 days, before  they go for the treble in the Promotion 1 Grand Final against either Hale or Southern River.  The game gets underway on Saturday 24th September, 11.30am at Perth Hockey Stadium.
