Ashley Morrison is an international sports broadcaster, author and award-winning documentary film maker.

Most of us probably know him from his excellent hockey commentary at Olympic Games and World Cups or his book , “Australia’s Hockey Grail” in which he records the Kookaburras quest for Olympic Gold, but Ashley has achieved so much more.

Along with 5 books, Ashley has made documentaries featuring the outstanding stories of little-known sporting heroes. “No Apologies”, featuring two female aboriginal World Cup footballers, won five awards around the world and “ Mark Our Place” (three Irish rugby players) was even more successful appearing in 20 International Film Festivals and claiming six awards, five for best documentary and one for best theme song. Ashley’s latest documentary which premiered in New York a month ago is about an incredible individual who overcame racism and great suffering to became Africa’s first born World Champion boxer. Look out for Battling Siki on your screens in “Return to your Corner”.

Ashley first came to Perth on a schoolboys’ cricket tour forty years ago and now calls Perth home. We are honoured and very fortunate to have him as our guest speaker for our first KMF event of 2023.
